Finally coming
under the name of Lincoln City in 1964. Lincoln City was established also
in 1964. As a result, five tiny communities in north Lincoln County ceased their independent existence. Three of the five communities were
incorporated, thereby earning the right to have city maps created by the Oregon State Highway Department.
Has its own massive, Indian-owned
gambling casino with the Chinook Winds, tucked away in what was once a quiet little corner at the Northern end of Lincoln City but what is now
one big parking lot often packed with motor homes and busses filled with elderly gamblers. Both regularly host large events and names, such as
Gladys Knight, Jay Leno, The Beach Boys, Tower of Power, Willie Nelson, George Jones and just about every goofball in the world of Country music
With a population of 6800,
Lincoln City is one of the fastest growing communities on the Oregon coast. Lincoln City is supported by its thriving tourism related activities
which include beach combing, crabbing, boating, hiking, fishing/hunting, & shopping Lincoln City enjoys a mild
coastal climate. The average winter temperature is 50º dropping to the mid 30’s at night. A typical summer will bring temperatures
from 80-90º degrees inland to a windy 60-70º on the beach. The annual rainfall averages 71.8 inches. Lincoln City has crisp clean air
and with the northwest winds in the summer and southwest winds in the winter, which makes it an interesting climate to live in. |
