Atlantic- Iowa is located just five miles south of Interstate 80, and is just one hour from Des Moines, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. Five, seven, or eight miles south of Interstate 80, depending on which exit you take. We are just one hour from Omaha, NE and just a little farther from Des Moines, IA. According to the 1990 Census, Atlantic's population is 7,432; Cass County is 15,128; and Iowa is 2,851,000. Atlantic's size and location make it the natural centre of trade in Southwest Iowa. Consumers from within a 60-mile radius depend on Atlantic for its numerous professional services and retail shops.

Shopping- downtown shopping area with everything from daily needs to special gifts and clothing for the entire family. Shopping is made easy with abundant parking, wide streets, and many unique spots to relax or enjoy lunch. A truly unique shopping experience can be had in what has always been a city that is the center of retail trade. There are so many things to do while you're in town that you'll want to stay a few more days. Consider a weekend relaxing in a beautiful Victorian-style bed and breakfast. If you are looking for an adventurous weekend of fishing, hiking, bicycling, swimming, or other outdoor activities . More than 1300 acres of state and local parks in our area. You may want to take a tour of some of the historical sites in the area, such as the Hitchcock House, which was an important part of the Underground Railroad, or the Danish Immigrant Museum and the Danish Windmill.

The Cass County Memorial Hospital is a fully accredited 71-bed facility. The hospital has undergone several relocations and expansions since its beginnings in 1903, the most recent being an $8.6 million addition and renovation completed in 1997. The new areas provide space for a centralized rehabilitation centre and outpatient specialty clinics, as well as the hospital business offices, medical records department and laboratory. Rehabilitation services include physical, occupational, and speech therapies and a comprehensive cardiac rehab program. A complete list of outpatient clinics includes cardiology, dermatology, ear/nose/throat, neurology, oncology, orthopaedics, podiatry, pulmonology, urology and vascular medicine.

Atlantic-Festival is Southwest Iowa's largest craft show, and it is held annually the 3rd Saturday in August at the city park. There were some very interesting and unique craft items for sale. This year we had a car show, craft booths downtown, expanded children's activities in the City Park.
