One of the most popular parks in the City of Aurora is Del Mar Park. This 44 acre park offers a large picnic shelter seating up to 48 people and many park amenities including an outdoor swimming pool with water slide, three playgrounds, tennis courts and much more.

The marina is located in the southwest finger of the reservoir and furnishes visitors with a ramp, off-shore moorings, dry storage, boat rentals and equipment, general store and food concessions. Fishing boats with electric motors, rowboats, canoes, sailboats, and sailboards can be launched on reservoir waters. Sailors can enjoy the convenience of off-shore moorings and dry boat storage to eliminate the hassles of transporting and rigging. Gasoline powered boats/jet skis are not permitted.

A swim beach provides bathers with a cool splash in Aurora Reservoir's sparkling waters. Lifeguards are stationed on the beach for swimmer's safety. Volleyball enthusiasts are welcome to set up their nets for sand volleyball games on the beach or use the tournament court

Stocked annually by the Colorado Division of Wildlife, anglers are welcome to try their luck for crappie, wiper, rainbow trout, brown trout, walleye, yellow perch, large-mouth bass and catfish. Live bait and lures are allowed. A Colorado State Fishing license is required

The Sports Park will provide excellent access to Sand Creek Regional Greenway as the trail is completed. Acquired two parcels on Sand Creek to facilitate construction of the trail and other improvements along the 16-mile Sand Creek Regional Greenway. City staff in partnership with others are involved in aggressive Sports Park tournament recruitment: staff has already begun securing national tournaments for the new facility, which will be fully operational in 2002.
The Aurora Buckley Air National Guard base continues to add new facilities to its operations base that handles satellite monitoring and missile warning systems. The base is a landmark with its large "golf ball" coverings of satellite and radar dishes. There are approximately ten thousand military and civilian employees working at the base.
