Aliant National, South Trust Bank, Regions Bank, and Colonial Bank, as well as several savings and loan institutions, are extremely prosperous and supported by our community.

Alexander City, a unique community nestled in the heart of east central Alabama. Alexander City residents place a premium on quality of life. Our city is unlike most cities with a population of 16,000. It is much more prosperous and progressive, and boasts a very low crime rate and affordable cost-of-living. In addition, we enjoy a trade area population of approximately 125,000. We have an outstanding public school system, active churches, exceptional health services, lovely homes, and beautiful Lake Martin, providing the embarkation point to unlimited recreational opportunities.

Alexander City is a pivotal point for transportation. Rail service is provided by Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Magnificent Lake Martin, a hydroelectric source created in 1929 and one of the largest man-made lakes in the continental United States, provides 750 miles of wooded shoreline and 44,000 acres of crystal clear water. Lake Martin is arguably the most beautiful recreational lake in the South and is a regional attraction for boating, swimming, skiing, fishing, golfing, and camping. Quaint cabins dot the shoreline, and exclusive lake front developments such as Willow Point, Windemere, Trillium and Stillwaters provide upscale living, and has become a destination for retirees. A new lake front amphitheater is currently under construction which will stage performing arts and cultural events.

Celebrations such as the Jazz Festival, Oktoberfest, and Hometown Christmas, to cultural events such as the Sarah Towery Art Colony and Alexander City Arts, Inc., our community provides a quality of life that is second to none.
