Gualaceo:
Chibcha origin word, Hual means without life and Ceo or Axiu means water,
in other words Gualaceo, or Hualaxiu means water without life or a river
that is sleeping.
The
history of Gualaceo is not well known because some Indian people burned
all the files from el Municipio of Gualaceo, which contained all the
history of Gualaceo. This malicious act is believed to have happened with
the purpose of the incineration of some property mortgage and notary
public positions, the file of the Judge Don Alfonso Webster was
incinerated then. The Indians obtained an important file which was thrown
from the building of el Municipio to the fire, this important file
contained all the history of Gualaceo, the authenticity of three and a
half centuries of civic action disappeared at the sight of many people
from Gualaceo who were unable to do anything to this stupid act.
