Las Terrenas - History |
||
Although
there is access through the mountain road, the area of Las Terrenas can be
reached by small plane. Situated between Sanchez and Samana, these north
coast resort towns offer exceptional beaches and vegetation. Las
Terrenas is a small resort area with basic facilities, a handful of hotels
and idyllic palm-fringed beaches. The “in” spot on the Samana
Peninsula is around the seaside town of Las Galeras, 16 mi/25 km north of
Samana. There are several small hotels there and of course, an
all-inclusive resort. If you want to avoid the road trip to Samana, you
can also take one of the small (five-passenger) airplanes that fly from
Santo Domingo. Samana is 65-min/105 km northeast of Santo Domingo. A miraculous cove, hidden by mountains, Las Terrenas is a paradise known by few. And yet, surrounded by a tropical bounty of coconut trees and swathed by trade winds, this exceptional place is a perfect cocktail of nature, discovery and freedom, seducing all those who approach it. |
