Juan Dolio - History

Along the coast is the popular destination of Juan Dolio. What was once a little village with a palm-laced beach is fastly becoming a Caribbean Riviera. The area enjoys a complete infrastructure, and is easily accessible from both the capital and Las Americas International Airport.

Juan Dolio and Boca Chica were among the areas damaged by Hurricane Georges in 1998. Most hotels and attractions were quickly repaired and reopened.

The main road connects to all the important and interesting places (Santo Domingo - 45 km; Santo Domingo International Airport - 30 km; San Pedro de Macoris - 15 km; La Romana, Casa de Campo, Altos de Chavon - 60 km; Bayahibe, Club Dominicus, Isla Saona - 80 km) making it easy to take in the many side trips available.
