Juan Dolio - Culture

Juan Dolio as well as Guayacanes are known for their calm Caribbean water and relaxing pace, this is the place for those who just want to relax.

Juan Dolio village is small with some bars and restaurants. Visitors can choose from a variety of fine restaurants and cafés, ranging from informal to casually elegant. There is even a pizzeria now with a giant satellite dish so that tourists don't have to miss seeing that important soccer, baseball, basketball or hockey game. You’ll find a dive shop where you can rent equipment and a Go-Kart track where you can rent karts to race.

Juan Dolio is especially proud of Los Marlins Golf Course, designed by Charles Ankrom, an award winning international golf course architect. The 18 holes, par 72 golf courses offer multiple tees to challenge golfers of all levels. The natural beauty of the site, the artistic landscaping and design, excellent practice facilities and the attractive clubhouse and Pro shop, make Los Marlins a highlight of a golfing vacation.

The main attraction of this area is the beautiful beach. Large all-inclusive resorts line the beachfront. These areas are mostly self-contained with the resorts offering most of the entertainment, restaurants, discos and casinos for your enjoyment.

Just 10 miles east is the seaport town of San Pedro de Marcois where most of the Baseball players from the Dominican Republic come from. San Pedro is the hometown of Chicago Cubs' Sammy Sosa. For visitors to this area in the winter months, they can take in a game at the local stadium Estadio Tetelo Vargas the home of the Estrellas Orientales (Eagles).

Also, tourists visiting Juan Dolio have the opportunity to make field trips to various interesting places, which may be exploring some of our caves with Indian drawings, the nearby cascades and rivers, the Saona and Catalina Islands; or simply to get to know the diversity of our culture, being captured by its warmth, colour and honesty.

Nightlife

Even when the great hotels of the zone have a wide offer of restaurants, bars and entertainment, the streets of Juan Dolio are filled with colourful places where visitors can begin the night enjoying a diverse gastronomy, national as well as international that ranges from Spanish cuisine to the Mexican, German, Italian and, of course the Dominican. To continue the night, you can choose to visit some of the discotheques or try your luck at one of the Casinos (these offer a free transportation service to a from the hotels).

The Juan Dolio nights are filled with happiness, informality and an on going sense of party, that will surely make you live unforgettable moments.
