Prince Albert - Culture

Prince Albert is one of the main gateways to the beauty and serenity of northern Saskatchewan, but also a city with many of its own attractions.

Prince Albert is the 3rd largest City in Saskatchewan with a population of over 39,000 people. Located 428.25 m above sea level, in the broad valley of the North Saskatchewan River near the geographical centre of the province where the agricultural prairie of the south and the rich forest belt of the north meet.

The climate is continental, with long sunny days and peacefully cool nights in the summer, and winters of crisp sunny days with little or no wind.

Museums tell the story of forestry in the area, and how three Canadian prime ministers represented this northern city.

Apart from several neighbourhood park areas, the more prominent parks in Prince Albert are Kinsmen Park and River Park. There is also a water park.

Prince Albert National Park protects a slice of the northern coniferous forest, which plays host to an abundance of wildlife. The park also contains many outstanding natural and cultural features, including the only fully protected white pelican-nesting colony in Canada.

The Wapity Regional Library consists of 55 branches serving over 115,000 people.

In this city you'll find excellent choices in dining, shopping, accommodations and other services.

Major events include a summer musical theatre and festivals. A Ukrainian festival, a Metis festival, and Tapestrama featuring the art, music, food and dance of the city's many cultural groups. The two-week Prince Albert Winter Festival is one of the largest in western Canada.

Just a short drive north you’ll find a popular Lakeland playground with everything from beach life to fishing, nature viewing, hiking and canoeing.

Carlton Comprehensive High School The school has excellent facilities and offers a broad range of programs to its students in the area of academic preparation for post secondary studies.

Prince Albert has a good highway system, and it is also the focal point for Northern Saskatchewan's railway network. Major industries are agriculture, forestry, mining and tourism.

It has established itself as the key health, education, & commercial service centre for central and northern Saskatchewan.
